A theme ships every feature it might ever need to every page it ever renders. That is the convenience, and the weight is the price.
What the work involves
A written specification first
What each page and each screen has to do, agreed before any code exists. The document is yours and it works with any developer.
Hand-built front end
Markup and CSS written for your design. It is why a custom build loads in a fraction of the time and why there is nothing to update every week.
Only the dependencies you need
Every library added is a maintenance obligation. We justify each one rather than installing a stack out of habit.
Editing that fits your team
A CMS where it earns its place, static content where it does not. The test is whether your marketing person can publish without calling us.
Performance budget enforced
Image weight, font loading and script size checked during the build, not audited afterwards when it is too late to change the design.
Everything in your accounts
Repository, hosting, domain, CMS. Plus a readme that covers setup, deployment and the decisions that will look strange in a year.
Questions we get asked
Is custom always better than WordPress?
No. If your team publishes weekly and wants to hire an editor tomorrow, a CMS earns its overhead. Custom wins when the site is mostly fixed, needs to be fast, or has logic a plugin only nearly does.
What if we want to change it later?
That is what the readme and the clean repository are for. Any competent developer can pick it up; we do not build a layer only we understand.
How long does it take?
Four to ten weeks for most business sites. Integrations and content readiness move that number more than page count does.
Do you work with our existing developer?
Often, yes. Split responsibilities have to be written down, but a good in-house developer makes the project cheaper, not harder.
Tell us what it has to do
Send the requirement, however roughly it is written. You get back the questions we would need answered, the integrations we would test first, and a realistic range.
